It is December 31st.
I can cross off another white square on my calendar, closed for any further changes, because it's done.
Finito.
But this year I want to start ending my days differently.
With small dots, I want to cover today’s open square with everything that was good in it, a dot for each one.
And that means I can go back and add when I remember
a good moment
a good feeling
a good (ultimate) outcome.
Because in the moment, the goodness of the moment might be hidden from my human vision.
But because I no longer close my days to further change,
may the Heavens later, in the squares after,
make me see how good those day actually were.
So that I can go back.
To leave a dot where I missed it the first time.
When the Lord reveals where your squares may have missed a dot or two,
He teaches you to write with a clutch pencil.
Because you cannot write with a clutch pencil if the pressure inside you is too overwhelming,
each new lead shatters too quickly.
You become afraid to write, because
the pressure
is just
too
much.
Only when you learn to dot and lift,
dot and lift,
the chorus of thank you’s that are collected
opens the windows of your soul
and the pressure
escapes
and all your leads
stay whole.
May you find in this year, in each new day, an open square full of promise.
May you gain clarity of mind to see when and where you have missed a dot.
May the windows of your soul remain open
so that the pressure has to flee
and no lead
breaks.
Ananias protested, "Master, you can't be serious."
Acts 9:13 The Message
But the Master said, "don't argue. Go! I have picked him…”
Acts 9:15 The Message
Paul stood up, paused and took a deep breath, then said…
Acts 13:16 The Message
"...we're here today bringing you the good news..."

Open windows and all.
