I want to drown myself

Our daughter was asked the big YES this weekend, and when I reflect on how much detail and in how many pieces our soon-to-be son-in-law planned the whole total, how every little part of the puzzle was considered and polished to make that ultimate moment precious for her, the whole event shines so much more brightly in my mind.

Then I read an unraveling of Acts 22:15 and the bigger picture becomes even more breathtaking for I understand each contributing part better:

"For you will be a constant witness for Him to all men of

what you have seen and heard."

NKJV

FOR YOU

You.

For you have met Him face to face.

You.

Even though you forget to forgive seventy-times-seven.

Even though you leave the narrow path at times.

Even though you chase the earthly mist of fame.

You.

FOR YOU WILL BE

It will be so.

You are chosen.

Yes, you.

Your name is written next to this assignment.

You won't be able to stop yourself.

FOR YOU WILL BE A CONSTANT WITNESS FOR HIM

For him.

About Him.

It will become the constant and all-consuming driver in your life.

Nothing else will make you speak with more conviction.

When people hear you talk about Him,

they too will want to hear Him speak.

FOR YOU WILL BE A CONSTANT WITNESS FOR HIM TO ALL MEN

Not just for those who like what you say.

For everyone who can hear you.

Old.

Not old.

Poor.

Not poor.

English.

Not English.

FOR YOU WILL BE A CONSTANT WITNESS FOR HIM TO ALL MEN OF WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN AND HEARD.

This means that you will have to see and hear,

and to see and hear in order to have something to tell others about,

you will have to stay close to Him of whom you are supposed to

tell everyone.

So that you can see.

So that you can hear.

For everyone who will hear you.

For everyone who will (even just by chance) hear you speak.

The Lord’s love letter to us has 66 chapters.

The more we experience His love for us, the more we take Him at His promise, the more meaning each stanza carries.

I want to make time to drown myself verse-by-verse.

So that I will better understand the bigger picture,

so that I would appreciate it more.
